My reporting, essays and analysis have been published in variety of global outlets—including The Economist, London Review of Books, The Guardian, VICE, Jacobin and Open Democracy—and my narrative non-fiction book 'Where The Water Ends' will be released in March 2021 with Melbourne University Publishing.

I was raised in Melbourne on Wurundjeri country and have since lived and worked in. inter alia, England, Lebanon, Syria, Cambodia, Palestine and Europe. Alongside my professional specialism in the Middle East, my work investigates human and political subjects relating to migration and borders, foreign policy and social and environmental justice.

I have a PhD on British intervention and democratic change in the Arab region and an MA in International Journalism, with academic research publications for Edinburgh University Press, Zed Books and Routledge. I have taught and lectured in journalism and other disciplines in Australia and the UK and conducted consultancies and research for organisations such as Free Press Unlimited, The Institute of War and Peace Reporting, the Arab League and the International Organisation for Migration.

I also work as a freelance translator from Arabic to English—for example, of journalism for Al Monitor, as well as of works of poetry and literature for Arab writers. My original works of poetry have been published in journals such as Australian Poetry and Cordite, as well as in international edited anthologies.I am currently working on my debut poetry collection.
